For more than 200 years, Wesley Mission has been at the forefront of Australia's toughest social challenges, supporting people experiencing homelessness, hardship, isolation, mental health challenges, and other complex circumstances. Located in the heart of Surry Hills, the Wesley Edward Eagar Centre is a crisis accommodation and support service for people experiencing homelessness. The Centre provides safe accommodation, meals, case management, and practical support, helping people move from crisis towards stability and independence. The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering support when it is needed most.
Supporting Community in Times of Crisis
Homelessness is often the result of multiple challenges converging at once. Rising living costs, housing insecurity, mental health concerns, family breakdown, domestic and family violence, unemployment, and financial hardship can quickly push people into crisis. Today, more than 122,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness on any given night, with more than 25,000 people estimated to be experiencing homelessness across Greater Sydney alone.
Crisis is not a long-term condition; it is a human moment. What happens next depends on whether the right support is available. When people are met with safety, dignity, and care, stability can begin. When they are not, challenges deepen and the path forward becomes even harder.
The Wesley Edward Eagar Centre exists at this critical point in people's lives. More than simply providing a bed for the night, the Centre offers a pathway forward through trauma-informed care, housing support, referrals, and wraparound services that help people rebuild their lives.
By meeting immediate needs while addressing the underlying causes of homelessness, WEEC supports people to move towards safety, stability, and independence.
